Jack M. Roxburgh discovered hockey as a child and spent his lifetime sharing his love of the game.

"Roxy" played hockey at Simcoe's old Mason Arena in his youth, later trading in his skates for a career of organizing and promoting the sport.  

He organized juvenile and junior hockey locally, and helped found the Ontario Junvenile Hockey Association (the forerunner of today's Ontario Minor Hockey Association) in the 1930s.

An executive member of the Ontario Hockey Association, Jack served as its president from 1950-52.  Later, he was president of the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association, and was awarded the CHA Order of Merit in 1971.

"Roxy" spent considerable time abroad with many hockey teams, promoting better relations between people through sports.  He was among the first to help Russians organize their hockey system and promoted friendly competition between Canada and Russia.

Jack represented Canada at the International Ice Hockey Federation, was receipent of the OHA Gold Stick award for his achievements in the sport, and was a life member of both the OMHA and the OHA.  He also spoke and lectured on the game of hockey.  Jack was Norfolk County's Member of Parliament three times starting in 1960.

Jack was inducted into our Hall of Recognition in 1996.
